My name is Aleksandar Mišić. I am 22 years old and I’m from Sremska Mitrovica, Serbia, but my current place of residence is Novi Sad because of my studying. I study sociology at the Faculty of Philosophy and I am at my fourth year of bachelors, and I am planning to get a masters there also. My choice of subject is the exploitation and destruction of Danube river at Belgrade. In the text, I wrote during the Spring School, I talk about how the city of Belgrade uses Danube as its sewer and how that affects the environment. I chose this topic because I am very interested in urban and environmental sociology, as I have written many papers about those fields of my studying through the years. This is not by any means extensive on the topic of Danube as the sewers, but I provide basic information from the perspective of one explorer. I have also listed my sources which can be used for further information and discussion on this topic.
My experience of the spring school is nothing but splendid! The kindness and warmth of all the people who held panels, and also greeted us at IDGL institute, was very touching and enjoyable. Everyone on the panels had interesting and unique perspectives on the Danube and it’s long history, it was a captivating experience for all the days I was there! The city of Tübingen was also panoramic and scenic, and I pleasant walks with my friends. I am hoping to return one day and explore it furthermore to see what I have missed, but also visit places that really caught my eye.
All the best to everyone at the IDGL institute and I cannot say it enough, thank you for your hospitality and goodwill, and may we see each other again!
