The traveling exhibition presents various material about the Danube ports that was collected during archival research and by workshop participants. It offers an insight into archived and contemporary photographs, situation plans, maps, statistics, official documents, first-person documents and construction plans from all Danube countries.
The exhibition provides information about social developments, urban and state policy decisions and the different environments of historic port facilities. From industrial ports with an international workforce to modern tourist sites on former quay areas - the exhibition shows the diverse developments along the Danube. In addition, current challenges in urban and landscape planning, from urban expansion to the revitalization of port facilities, are addressed.
The travelling exhibition will start on 24 November 2025 in Budapest city centre in the building of the Association of Hungarian Architects. The second opening will follow on 7 February 2026 in the Danube Swabian Central Museum in Ulm, and in April 2026 the exhibition will be presented on the premises of the university administration in Novi Sad. Further exhibitions in cities along the Danube are planned for 2026. Additional exhibition venues are also being planned for 2026.
The exhibition visualizes 15 Danube ports with approx. 70-80 exhibits on display walls and posters. The texts are written in German, English, Hungarian, Serbian/Croatian and Romanian and are accompanied by a multilingual exhibition catalog
